So yet again, I have been the lazy man and ignored blogging for a while. I have been pretty busy, mostly with things not relating to school though. The biggest thing to note is the release of the website for the North Kitsap Adapted Aquatics [http://www.nkaaweb.com]. It took me about 2 weeks or so but it turned out great. While it looks like it is all coming from static html files, the entire website is driven by Smarty templates and a MySQL database. I am definitely happy with how it came out.

Another big thing that is almost done is podcasting for SBC. I have the podcast ready and the instructions written up. Now I am just waiting to get some volunteers to test it for a week or so just to be sure it is good. Hopefully next week it can be released to the public.

I have gone to two concerts since my last post: Sean Feucht and the Newsboys Go Tour. I will post more about those in the coming days.

Like the title says, only one day of classes left. Accounting (party day), Math and Speech. Should be a pretty chillax day. Tomorrow will also be my last day as a school employee. Next week will bring a few things, a paper for Biblical Foundations, a final in Math and Speech and a log book for Fitness. Only those 4 things and I am done! Pretty exciting I must say.

While most people will be leaving on Thursday, May 3rd, I am going to stick around until Sunday, May 6th. I will be helping with sound and such for graduation and running sound for a friend’s wedding. Then the drive of almost 3000 miles begins. If you get bored during the week of May 6th give me a call and keep me awake .

Well that is all for now I think. It is time to relax to some episodes of House season 1. I got so much done today it is exciting. If you want to feel like you do a lot put a bunch of easy things on your todo list .

Well I went to bed around 12:30 to 1 last night. Since I didn’t have Microeconomics in the morning, I decided to sleep in and go to Accounting at 9:20. Well my alarm went off at 8:30 like it should have and like always, I got up, hit snooze, and got back in bed to be awoken in 7 more minutes. Well for some reason, that second awakening never came. I heard Joel get up around what I figured was 9 because he had class as well. For some reason though I still stayed in bed. I finally awoke, looked at the clock and it was 11AM. Oops. Talking to Joel later in the afternoon he said that he didn’t hear his alarm and actually got up at 9:30, missing his class as well.

Well I eventually got out of bed and went over to the laundrymat to get my nice clean clothes. After that I went and started popping some pills… Sudafed, Advil, Claritin, Calcium and a packet of Emergen-C it was about 11:10. At this point I realized that I was in no way going to make it to class at 11:20 (Math this time) and so I took my own time getting ready. While sorting out my clothes I happened to have Switchfoot’s newest CD, ‘Oh! Gravity’ cranked up nice and loud. The song titled ‘Faust, Midas and Myself’ came on and I was amazed. The lyrics are nice and simple accompanied by a light melodic background. What really struck me though was the imagery that the lyrics provided. Check them out [sorry.. kinda long]

———-
This one’s about a dream I had last night
How an old man tracked me home and stepped inside
Put his foot inside the door and gave a crooked smile
Something in his eyes, something in his laugh
Something in his voice that made my skin crawl off
He said I’ve seen you here before, I know your name
Yeah, you could have your pick, of pretty things
You could have it all, everything at once
Everything you’ve seen, everything you’ll need
Everything you’ve ever had in fantasies

You have one life, you have one life left to leave

I woke up from my dream as a golden man
With a girl I’ve never seen with golden skin
I jumped up to my feet and she asked me what was wrong
And I began to scream, I don’t think this is me
Is this just a dream or really happening

You have one life, you have one life left to leave

What direction, I’m splitting up
This is my personal disaffection
What direction, what direction now

I looked outside the glass at golden shores
Golden ships and masts with golden cords
As my reflection passed I hated what I saw
My golden eyes were dead and a thought passed through my head
A heart that’s made of gold can’t really beat at all
I wanted to wake up again without a touch of gold

What direction, death or action
Life begins at the intersection
What direction, what direction now

I woke up as before but the gold was gone
My wife was at the door with her night robe on
My heart beat once or twice and life flooded my veins
Everything had changed my lungs had found their voice
And what was once routine was now the perfect joy

You have one life, you have one life left to lead
———-

So after my nice relaxing morning, I had an exam in Speech which went fairly well. I just pulled up my grades and I got a 80%. Not too bad, I can live with that. I worked from 2:30-10:15 tonight. A long night I must say. The event went perfectly and we got lots of compliments. My only messup was accidentally grabing the knob for the camera feed instead of my headphones and turning it completely off for 5ish seconds. Luckily the cameraman was also including a ambient mic so everything should be fine on that. While it was totally my fault (and I am probably the only one that cares or will ever notice it) I will also say that this was the first time I have run Behringer board before. While it was quite nice and pretty they do a few things that are just a bit odd. To name a few, the console is flat (instead of sloped like most Mackies), only 1/4″ outs and no XLR, the meter doesn’t accurately show the sound output, etc. Some nice stuff though was the fact that the Aux Sends (labeled Monitors on this board) were controllable via a fader versus a POT which is the way they are on every other board I have ever mixed with.

Alright enough of that, I think it is time to go to bed. Having been sick the past 5ish days, I am just worn out after today. I will probably end up sleeping till 1 or 2 tomorrow. Should be grand. Well more to come eventually. I defintely recommend checking out the newest Switchfoot album Oh! Gravity because it is just sweet.

So yeah… not so good on the mid term. Not only is Microeconomics boring but that exam was just confusing. 50 multiple choice questions… ones that the prof probably didn’t even write. All of our quizzes and homework were just copies of the sample test bank questions. It really bugs me when profs are that lazy… it is just ridiculous. He also just essentially teaches the chapter… not really making up anything for himself. Just retells what the book said.

Well anyway… glad it is over. One class down and three to go.

So back to my fascination with Anberlin… here are the lyrics to the song called Inevitable off of their album titled Cities…

———-
Do you remember when we were just kids,
and cardboard boxes took us miles from what we would miss?
School yard conversations taken to heart,
and laughter took the place of everything we knew we were not.

I want to break every clock.
the hands of time could never move again.
We could stay in this moment for the rest of our lives.
Is it over now hey, hey is it over now?
I want to be your last first kiss that you’ll ever have.
I want to be your last first kiss.

Amazing how life turns out, the way that it does.
We end up hurting the worst, the only ones we really love.

I want to be your last first kiss that you’ll ever have.
I want to be your last first love that you’ll ever have.
Lying here beside me, palms and eyes open wide,
I want to your last first kiss for all time.
———-

This song is just so incredibly beautiful… especially the chorus talking about stopping time. On the special edition of this CD/DVD they have the making of video. For this song they show how they recorded the toms. They used a live room at a studio and had like 6-8 guys all playing the toms at the same time. Then their drummer does the off beat stuff. It sounds incredible… I have listened to this song so many times… amazing.

Well I best be getting to Accounting. Peace-

Well I have finally decided that it is time to update the blog… it has been quite a while. I guess I just haven’t been up to it or something.

Well tomorrow I will be skipping all of my classes, getting up at 5:00AM and heading to Dallas. Microsoft is hosting a launch party for Microsoft Office 2007 there and there is a group of 20 or so of us going to get a free copy of the new software. Should be lots of fun… plenty of free stuff all provided courtesy of Microsoft.

Got Anberlin’s new CD today over at Best Buy. $10 for the special edition… not too bad I must say. Hmm… what else is going on… spring break is in a few weeks… totally stoked for that. My plan as of now is to drive to Tempe, AZ to visit the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. I am seriously considering going there for school next year. They have a very impressive program and an excellent reputation. They also offer lots of certifications including ones from JBL and Pro Tools. Not too shabby.

Well I think that is all for now… I really need to get in bed considering I am getting up in 6ish hours… ouch… I even get more sleep than that on a real school night.

Hopefully people still look at this… though I might have scared people off by not posting for 4 months.

-Peace

Well Friday was incredibly evil. I had a computer science exam, a biblical literature exam, five journals due for bib lit, work, needed to get a TB skin test so I can clear my registration holds, sleep, breakfast, lunch, dinner, accounting, etc. Out of all that I missed Accounting, breakfast, and lunch. I went to get the TB skin test at 11 but the wait was going to be about 25 minutes and I just didn’t have the time so I had to leave… there was about 30 minutes of travel time wasted.

In the end I made it through the exams… not so well on the bib lit one though. I went back after classes to get the skin test… it took all of 10 minutes in the office. And… all in all… it is over.

Well Friday night was good… watched some TV shows I haven’t seen in a while and mostly just chilled. Today was the same. Had the same thing we have every Saturday for lunch and dinner… make your own pizza. So pathetic.. they need to come up with some better ideas… it gets old having it twice a week. Tonight a bunch of us watched Office Space… great movie except for two scenes. Ohh well… definitely worth buying it though.

I have decided that on school nights I am going to bed between 11 and midnight and weekends between 12 and 1. I have been staying up WAY too late and it is pathetic. We shall see how that goes this week. I am also going to force myself to do the reading for class. Bib lit homework was to read about 45 pages in the Zondervan Handbook to the Bible. That book is AWFUL. So mundane and boring… horrible. It just goes on and on about things you could care less about. I would much rather read scripture… even Leviticus… than to read that book. I have read about 10 pages so far… grr.

Well I am going to go to church tomorrow… wasn’t really up to it tonight. Probably go at 11… 9 is way too early for a weekend morning.

Did a bunch of SBC website stuff this weekend. Moved them to a new web and mail server. We are about 75% through the migration. Tomorrow night I will drop the services on the old server, forward any emails that are still on that machine and then it will be complete. Also, I have to get the calendar going again… it decided to go haywire. Hopefully will get that resolved tomorrow. I am waiting on the NOC [network operations center] to respond to a support ticket. Their problem… not mine! Gotta love that.

Hmmm… what else. I need to get some new music… it has been about a month since I have gotten a new cd. Payday should be soon so I will hopefully take care of that soon. I seriously think I would go crazy without music. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t listen to some form of music for at least 30 minutes. Right now I have the ‘Background Check’ cds on that came from Oneighty when Andy, Brandon and Donovan went there a few years ago. Speaking of… I need to call a bunch of people to catch up… my sister, Donovan, Nancy, Morgan and others. Hopefully tomorrow.

Well I think that is all for now. Nite yall.

Well that was a bit random. Work is going swell… today we set some stuff up over in the gym building… unfortunately it was raining… I thought moving from Seattle to Texas would improve on the weather stuff… ohh well. Hopefully it won’t last too long… rain and overcast skys is depressing. Bring out the sunshine.

Class today was good… nothing too exciting though. I have two exams on Friday… that should be fun.

Well I think that is all for now… I really should have gone to bed an hour ago… it was so nice to go to bed at 11… but I am such a night owl that it is just incredibly hard.

Well I am again sitting in Computer Science and bored. We did some binary conversions today… guess those Cisco Networking classes came to use.

Well as the title says, today was the first day of my new job in ITS [Instructional Technology Services]. Essentially ITS supports all projectors, sound, editing, recording, video conferencing, etc around campus. I will work around 8 hours a week so not too bad. If the opportunity arises, I will try to add in some more hours.

This past weekend was great. Didn’t do a whole lot. Went to Walmart with some guys on Friday, played generals, slept in and went to church on Saturday. Since daylight savings was Saturday night, we decided to watch Constantine at 2 AM… which would have been 3 AM… so essentially we were up till 5. Sunday was more sleeping in, House marathon, dinner at Joe’s Pizza and evening praise and worship.

For some strange reason I decided to go to bed at 11 PM last night. Granted I got woken up two times when people knocked on my door a few times but I just blew it off. It was real nice to get close to eight hours of sleep last night. Then today after Accounting, I went back to the room and slept for another 90 minutes or so… I decided chapel wasn’t going to be worth it. It was some player [former?] of the 49ers. From what I have heard it wasn’t too great… he brought his family with him… like 10+ kids or something… crazy.

Well class is almost out… time for Biblical Literature… joy.

Peace.

Well I am in Computer Science right now and am a bit bored… not really motivated to do anything. As the title says, we are getting lots of rain. It started last night and from what I have seen… it hasn’t stopped. Ridiculous I say… I thought that an advantage of leaving Washington would be some better weather. Ohh well… hopefully it will stop soon.

Well tonight should be interesting… I have to write a two page paper for Principles of Management. Joy! Tomorrow is the Career Fair and that should be alright. Even though I was planning on going… we are required to for the management class. But, that means that there is no class… we just have to go up to three of the company reps and ask them each one question. Should be nice and easy. And, if I am lucky, I might be able to find an internship or something for the summer. That would be real nice.

I think after Biblical Literature today I will go in to the library and try to find the Tech Director lady… I really need to talk to her about getting a job. I am tired of not having much to do… and I need to get involved in sound or IT to keep my sanity.

One great thing about having a four day Fall Break is a three day school week. Only five more classes until the weekend! Not too shabby.

Well I have been an IE fan for a long time but after using the newest version of IE… version 7 for almost a month and a half… it just won’t cut it for me. Too many weird things that I just couldn’t get used to. Last week I noted that I was trying Firefox out… which was then version 1.5 and I was starting to really like it. For those that don’t know… Firefox is a web browser, just like Internet Explorer. So last night I was browsing around and noticed that a new version of Firefox came out… version 2.0. I am definitely hooked on Firefox now. There are just so many things that are so much better. From tabbed browsing, password manager, download manager, built in search, etc. Granted, IE 7 has a lot of these features but Firefox just does a better job of it.

I didn’t get everything accomplished today that I really wanted to but it has been incredibly nice to just relax this weekend.

Well it is bed time! Nite y’all.

Well lots has been going on. As some might have noticed, the blog was down for a few days. On Thursday, the server hosting erictrudeau.com locked up and I couldn’t contact support for over 12 hours… so a new host had to be found. The new one is running great and all is well… it even runs incredibly faster!

Well I got done with classes at 3:30 on Friday and am free for four days! It is real nice because Alex [roommate] and Craig [suitemate] are gone. It is nice to have a clean bathroom this weekend. I also spent about 20 minutes on Friday cleaning the room and that is REAL nice. No messy floor and such.

Friday night Shane messaged me and asked if I wanted to go see Brandon and Lynsey [Wheeler] Wright on Saturday… well I didn’t have anything planned so we went for it. It is crazy; they live about an hour away from us, in Shreveport, LA. We spent about 6 hours there and Lynsey made us dinner. That was real nice and delicious… definitely about a million times better than what we would have had to choose from here on campus.

Went to LifePoint on Sunday and that was great. Pretty much just bummed around most of the evening… spent a lot of time on migrating web stuff. Monday was more web stuff. Played a few games of Command and Conquer Generals with the guys… brings back memories of many long nights playing with Ben.

I spent the last few hours making upgrades to the blog. Cleaning up the template a bit, customizing the search box and adding in a random image rotator to the header. No more stale picture… right now there are ten in the loop… as time goes on I will continue to add to it.

Well I should probably get in bed… it is almost 2 AM. Granted I don’t have school tomorrow… I should probably do some homework… even though I really don’t want to. I have a 2 page paper due Thursday… nothing major.

Nite.
