iMac vs. MacBook Pro

Alright, this confirms it. Joel (my roommate) and myself are pathetic (see pdf below). We are officially obsessed with getting a Mac this summer. I am sure that some people won’t see the light and think we are stupid. Well here is the deal; after you have read every page on Apple’s website about the Mac, then you can complain. Seriously though, if you really go into it with an open mind, you can see that simply, Apple has a much better thing going than the PC. Check out this quote proudly displayed on the Apple website that was written by David Pogue of the New York Times: “You get the feeling that Microsoft’s managers put Mac OS X on an easel and told the programmers, ‘Copy that’”. Oh how true that statement really is.

I am totally stoked for the new Mac OS to come out… named Leopard which follows their line of cat names. With Vista, Microsoft finally caught up to what Apple had going on, albeit not very well done. Once Leopard comes out, Microsoft is going to be left in the dust.Check out the comparison I whipped up a few nights back comparing the iMac to the MacBook Pro (again, the picture below). My biggest problem with upgrading to a Mac is picking which of those machines I want to purchase. Ideally, within a year or so I will want to have both, but for now, one is in order. By listing everything out like that I was able to come up with a good comparison which points to the iMac being the right machine for now. The score actually came out 10 to 2 for benefits of each machine. While a laptop would be nice, I just really like having the security of knowing that the desktop will always be sitting on my desk back at home.

iMac vs. MacBook Pro

Now, you might be asking, why would I make this switch.  Well I have been a PC man since birth really.  I grew up administering Windows machines for networks and was really good at what I did.  Well here is the deal, I am tired of ‘dealing’ with my PC.  I want it to just work.  Also, with wanting to pursue a career in Audio Production/Recording/Engineering/etc., this switch only makes sense.  Macs are the industry standard for music/video/graphics/etc.  The only thing PCs are really good at is office and games, Macs do all that and then some. With Vista coming out and seeing what an incredible waste of the processor it is and how horribly Microsoft has copied Apple, there would be no way that I would upgrade to Vista.  So that leaves sticking with XP… or switching to the operating system that has it all together… MacOSX.

Well that is enough for now. Hope you enjoyed the rant.

    Trudey,
Thanks for not saying anything bad about me when steve called. I did get the job and im helping with audio stuff there. If you ever come out here i’ll give you the tour. Sorry i havent gotten you the cd’s from TLC, i will try to mail them this weekend or next. Anyway lets actually talk about why im commenting. Our PC died about 3 weeks ago so my mom went to work and ran ovr to the Apple Store. SO now we have a 17in iMac that is the most amazing thing ever. I would strongly recommend getting one if i were you. And yes Mircosoft pretty much made Windows Vista into a version of Mac OS X. Anyway you should really get one because they are better than PC’s. Talk to you later.
